CONTACTING REPS.

We wrote to Senator Bob Casey Jr. Senator Pat Toomey, and Congressman Greg Vitali.

We wrote to these Congress People since they support the environment and our goal would be more likely to be pursued by these Congress People. Senator Casey and Senator Toomey are our Senators from Pennsylvania, we are their constituents and Congress People would listen to their constituents more.

We wrote how recycling should be achieved in a national level. We also advocated for an increased awareness on the environment.

SAMPLE LETTER

One of the most important part of the budget is priorities. We need to know where and how much money to put in a certain department or agency. We also need to look out for the next generation of people who have to continue the growth. Through the two years, we do not want a deficit. Instead we want more jobs and advanced technology.

Our major topic involves creating a Federal Recycling Program. Since the national government does not have a nationwide recycling program this will be the perfect opportunity to implement one. Some states already have mandatory recycling programs, but this federal program could be voluntary. States that participate can receive grants which can be used towards green jobs. Americans are wasting money by burying and burning commodities such as plastic, glass, and paper which can be recycled. We need a myriad funding to infrastructure and quality care for programs such as curbside collection.

If government gives subsidies to fix infrastructure, that means more items can be recycled, which results in lower prices on glass and paper. It is more important to start recycling in schools because as children grow older, they will realize the benefits of recycling. Recycling can be more expensive than putting everything into the landfill, but once recyclables enter a landfill, they are gone forever. Schools could start recycling programs and gain grants through joining these programs. Schools can use these grants to improve the condition of the school. I appreciate the committee for taking their time by looking over my ideas on cleaner energy and the future of recycling.
